Talking to someone else is the most useful first step. Friends, family or colleagues can provide a listening ear and might well have experienced similar stresses. However you may feel unable to talk to someone close to you and want to speak to someone outside your own circle. In the first place you might like to contact your doctor. You do not have to be physically ill to go and see your doctor. They will have had much experience in dealing with people who are suffering from stress and can discuss with you what sort of help you would like. Your conversation will be completely confidential. They can direct you to counselling services if you wish or give you information about the appropriate practical help.
You may also find it useful to talk to a church minister, who might be able to help directly or to direct you to support organisations.
You can also contact the support organisations yourself, and this section of the website lists rural stress support organisations by county. We have included those counties in Wales which have significant rural populations. Several of the organisations listed are national organisations, with national contact numbers, so even if you do not live in one of the listed counties you can contact these organisations to find your nearest branch. And of course anyone can contact organisations in another county if they wish.
Only counties coloured green have entries in our helpful contacts database.
